**The Role**:
This role will provide leadership support to Smoking Cessation Service teams and programmes within Te Poutokomanawa Maori Health Directorate. Based in Tohora House, Whangarei Hospital Campus.

You will be responsible for leading, developing, maintaining and updating systems, processes and education material to improve smoking cessation intervention across primary and secondary care services.

The role will carry out activities that support the reduction of tobacco related harm in Northland as per the Tai Tokerau Rautaki Hauora 2040 Strategy, the Northland Health Services Plan, and the Tupeka Kore Strategy.

**Tasks will include**:

- Coordinating Smoking Cessation Services and programmes within Te Tai Tokerau Primary and secondary Care and Whanau settings.
- Providing up to date, Best Practice Advice and Support to General Practice, Tupeka Kore providers and whanau
- Delivering Quit Coaching education to HSS and community staff across Te Tai Tokerau
- Management of Smoking Cessation Resources
- Leading the Te Whatu ora Te Tai Tokerau, ‘Babies Living in Smokefree Homes’ (BLISH) project work
- Working Collaboratively with other Smoking Cessation Project and Programme staff to support the vision and implementation of site Smokefree Policy and Action Plans.

This role is a permanent, part time role working 32 hours per week (0.8FTE) between Monday and Fridays (40 hours per week, full time equivalent). Hours can be flexible and agreed with the Pou Takawaenga, Te Poutokomanawa.

**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- Ability to work in a Treaty partnership model, supporting both Māori and non-Māori to advance the health aspirations of Tangata Whenua
- Strong ability to facilitate relationships across disciplines and teams within secondary and primary care
- Highly developed communication skills, both oral (e.g., conference presentations) and written (e.g., publication)
- A role model, able to guide, inspire and motivate others to commit and work towards project goals
- Able to mentor and support health care practitioners to implement interventions
- Able to operate within programme and organisation parameters and resources
- Ability to work to, and achieve deadlines
- Able to travel away overnight on occasion
- Flexibility to work within a changing environment
