Mō te tūranga | About the Role

As an important role within the Finance Leadership Team (FLT), the Head of Finance Strategy and Execution will be responsible for leading and delivering strategic financial initiatives for Westpac New Zealand. You will build a trusted advisor relationship with the CFO and FLT members to determine core issues and design and implement strategic, cost effective solutions.

You will leverage your expertise to help create a world class strategic, scalable, and sustainable finance function. As a seasoned leader, you will foster relationships and partner with FLT members to support create and drive their team strategies.

Other key responsibilities:

- Provide leadership and direction from a FINPAC perspective in the establishment of enterprise-wide initiatives.
- Lead through partnership, a strong, collaborative and engaged Finance Lead team relentlessly focusing on clarity of function and strategy delivery.
- Provide thought leadership and actively participate in relevant governance and working group forums and be a ‘role model’ in driving finance excellence across our business.
- Work closely with all members of the FLT to ensure we are consistently aligned with respect to our team structures and that we are recruiting the best people into our teams within our budget envelope.
- Identify duplication and any inefficiencies, raise these in a collaborative way to seek simplification and clarity of work.
- Take ownership of the FLT Board Paper process ensuring uniformity, effectiveness and accuracy.

- Deep experience in developing and delivering strategy within large organisations.
- Extensive experience in analysing and interpreting trends and data to make business decisions and support strategy development.
- Strong communication capabilities across all layers of a large organisation
- Experience in helping lead, shape and support collaborative, psychologically safe and high performance cultures.
- Ability to influence and mentor Senior Leaders.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and engage team members across the organisation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
