New Director Opportunities

Hamilton, New Zealand Greg Tims & Associates Full time

K’aute Pasifika has a 20-year history of supporting people and their families to make meaningful changes that benefit their health and wellbeing, with their focus being to improve the holistic wellbeing of Pacific communities. The organisation is entering a period of transitional growth, and it has been strategically preparing for this exciting challenge over the past year. There has been a refresh of its future direction and long term aspirations, along with a comprehensive review of its constitutional and governance documents, and the opening of the new Pasifika Village Fale, so that the organisation is now well positioned for the future.

An interim Board is in place to ensure the ongoing stability of focus and oversight, while the organisation moves through this transitional period, and with the ongoing leadership of the experienced Chief Executive, there is also a highly skilled transitional Executive Team in place.

New Directors are being sought to join the Interim Board, to support the strategic repositioning of the organisation as an intergenerational leader, advocate, innovator, facilitator and partner in the strategic delivery of health and wellbeing, education and employment and housing outcomes for Pacific people. These Directors will also form part of a new Board that will be established to govern the organisation, once the new strategies and associated new organisational structure have been put in place.

We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced Directors with proven experience in working in the “for purpose” sector, including in the areas of health, early education, pharmaceutical, economic and social development. Associated proven experience in obtaining impact and philanthropic funding, will also be sought after skills. It is essential that you have been directly involved in a governance role with Pasifika and/or other ethnic organisations, that are focused on the delivery of strategic health and well-being outcomes.

In addition to these important areas, you will need to be able to demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement and networking capabilities (e.g., with Pasifika communities, local and central government, etc), along with proven experience in contributing to high quality strategic thinking, planning and decision making at a governance level. Pasifika specific competencies, including speaking the language and understanding traditional practices, will also be important sought after attributes.

It is important that you are a strong team player, with a highly collaborative and likeable interpersonal and communication style, balanced with the ability to probe and challenge constructively and positively when needed. You will also have had previous organisational senior leadership experience, and have well founded commercial and business acumen. It is essential that you have a genuine interest in working with, and for, Pacific people.

These new Director opportunities come at a very exciting time for the organisation. It is moving to a new strategic location, it has a clear strategic framework for the future, and you will be in the unique position to influence how intergenerational aspirations can be delivered for Pacific people in New Zealand. A lot of work has already been undertaken to date, but there are many challenges still to come as the organisation of the future is created.

**Applications Close: Midday on Friday, 21 April 2023
