We have an exciting leadership opportunity available in our Finance team. This role is ideal for those looking for variety and to be part of a high performing and motivated team.

This is a strategic role where you will be responsible for the direction of the financial management of Suncorp New Zealand (SNZ) and you will be a key adviser to our CFO. You will lead the areas of Financial Accounting and Reporting, Tax Management, and Finance Processes and Systems.

**What you’ll do**:

- Work with the CFO to design, develop, implement and deliver a Finance Strategy that aligns with SNZ’s overall strategy and ensures a culture of excellence.
- Lead and manage the integrity of SNZ’s financial numbers, trial balance and quality of financial reports through ensuring successful, accurate and timely completion of all financial transactions performed by teams in area of responsibility.
- Develop a culture of continuous improvement to ensure processes continue to be effective and efficient.
- Ensure all service level agreements are complied with, whether it’s an outsourced or in sourced arrangement, and commitments met and where possible exceeded.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with all internal and external suppliers and stakeholders to ensure delivery of Finance and SNZ strategies and objectives.
- Encourage and support capability and talent development of direct reports, formalising the process via individual performance appraisals.
- Ensure all financial transactions and reporting is compliant with the requirements of Suncorp and the NZ legal and accounting standards and regulations.
- Design, develop, recommend, implement, manage and monitor financial plans and budgets for areas of accountability to ensure financial targets/budgets are met.

**What you’ll bring**:

- 10+ years’ experience in a senior accounting role in a commercial environment
- CA or equivalent
- Results-driven strategic thinking with people leadership experience
- Understanding of all functions and issues involved in the running of a large, complex commercial organisation
- Proven track-record of developing and maintaining productive relationships with all internal and external suppliers and stakeholders
- Ability to provide sound advice and mentoring/coaching to others
- Mastery of leadership and change management skills, consultation, influencing and negotiation capability
