**The opportunity**
The purpose of this role is to provide thought leadership to Wellington Water’s growth planning programme and strategic priorities. In this role, you will plan to meet growth demands in an integrated, affordable, innovative, sustainable way. You will deliver the growth programme by delivering integrated future growth studies, investigations, and plans, and develop our strategic policy direction related to any relevant national, regional, and local policies to plan for growth and development.
Your work will achieve our Statement of Intent, Three Waters Strategy, and Regional Investment Strategy and be guided by our three key outcomes and 12 Service Goals. To do this, you will engage and input to Council or Developer led plan changes, work with major infrastructure providers to align long term programmes of work and provide 3-W advice on any relevant land and infrastructure policy development or water bylaws, policies, or standards.
Position description
**About you**
You are a self-starter who is focused on providing solutions and outcomes that are in line with best practice. You can also demonstrate the following:
- Relevant qualification in Strategy and Planning, Engineering or a related field
- A collaborative mindset - you will understand what it takes to bring people together to achieve results.
- An understanding of the detail while focusing on the big picture.
- The ability to communicate and build strong relationships with stakeholders, so they feel well informed and have a high level of trust.
- A minimum of 10 years post qualification experience working at a senior level preferably in 3 waters or strategic planning
- Knowledge of planning under the Resource Management Act and LGA cost allocation for growth projects
- Civil Engineering Practice and Integrated Planning Principles.

The Growth planning and Land Development team operates in a dynamic environment, meaning the work of the team is to respond to changing national policy directives for urban development and freshwater, strategic planning to plan for growth and housing demands, participate in consenting and construction, mature our asset management approach to future demand management, and working with other infrastructure providers.
Our work is growing in scope, volume and complexity when dealing with planning and policy matters, significant programmes of infrastructure, and new development sites across the Wellington Region.
