New Zealand BNZ Full time

**Ko mātou tēnei | This is Us**

Our role as the Bank of New Zealand is to help navigate Aotearoa towards a better future. This means working in an energising environment built around our customers to help our communities prosper. If you can imagine a better future, let's find a way.

We have an opportunity for a Senior Corporate Lawyer to join the team to provide legal support & advice on all non-dispute customer related matters. Our lawyers focus on delivering valuable and pragmatic commercial and legal outcomes for BNZ and our customers.

**Mō te Tūranga | About the Role**

We spoke with the Head of Legal - Business, Corporate & Institutional Banking (who you'd report to), and she gave us some great insight on what to expect with this tūranga (role):
**What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?**
- Ownership of a portfolio, including prioritisation and delivery of workflow in line with BNZ strategy, with a primary focus on transactional banking and financial services
- Developing and implementing policies, procedures and tools to simplify our business and enable us to deliver better customer outcomes
- Proactively leading relationships
- Engaging with colleagues and other stakeholders
- Arranging and delivering training and presentations

**What is your management style?**

I encourage a collaborative team who supports each other. I like to provide team members with autonomy, but am available for support and guidance as needed.

**What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role?**
- Significant New Zealand legal experience in a wide range of banking and finance matters, including in particular, financial services
- 6+ years' post qualification legal experience, including experience in banking & financial services or corporate/commercial at a top tier law firm and/or financial institution
- Ability to work independently (and remotely) without supervision
- Ability to supervise other lawyers and/or contribute to leadership of a legal team
- Ability to influence, and to proactively lead relationships, at multiple levels and/or in multiple areas
- Excellent technical legal and communication skills.

**What is your favourite thing about working for BNZ?**

There are great benefits to working at BNZ such as 6 weeks annual leave, discounts on banking products and health insurance for you and your loved ones. But there are also great advantages of being part of a team that can directly impact the lives of almost 1 million New Zealanders. We believe that by creating simple, accessible, and useful tools for our customers we enable them to achieve their goals and become financially better off.

**Nau Mai ki te Pēke o Aotearoa | Come to the Bank of New Zealand**

Applications close Wednesday 21st February at 5pm.
