We have an opportunity for a Senior Corporate Lawyer to join the team to provide legal support on all customer focused initiatives. Our lawyers focus on delivering valuable and pragmatic commercial and legal outcomes for BNZ and our customers. This role will have a focus on financial services.

**Mō te Tūranga | About the Role**

We spoke with the Head of Legal - Consumer & Everyday Banking (who you'd report to), and she gave us some great insight on what to expect with this tūranga (role):
**What are some day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?**
- Ownership of a portfolio, including prioritisation and delivery of workflow in line with BNZ strategy, with a primary focus on wealth & insurance distribution, marketing and communications
- Delivers appropriate legal support and advice to BNZ in relation to:

- products, services and communications with customers (including simplification and digitalisation)
- policies, procedures and effective governance.
- compliance with, and the impact and implementation of, law and regulation.
- Supporting other banking and financial markets, and related communications, activity.

**What is your management style?**

I encourage a collaborative team who supports each other. I like to provide team members with autonomy, but I am always available for support and guidance.

**What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role?**

We are ideally looking for someone with expertise in distribution of wealth & insurance products & services. You will also have:

- 6+ years' post-qualification legal experience.
- New Zealand legal experience in banking & financial services at a top tier law firm and/or major financial institution.
- Excellent relevant technical legal skills.
- Excellent communication skills (including an ability to write concisely and clearly).
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess risk and give pragmatic advice quickly, concisely and clearly.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders.
