To be considered for this position you will have established yourself as a successful specialist in the public sector, understanding the machinery of government and the intricacies of ministerial and executive decision making. Alongside your strong commercial savvy, you will be experienced in government products and business cases - promoting evidence-based and pragmatic decision making with extensive knowledge of the machinery of government in relation to investment management.

The focus of the Senior Manager / Lead Consultant is to utilise their own industry strengths, network and knowledge to confidently lead programmes of work, that will add significant value to Rationale’s clients, partners and New Zealand as a whole.
The work will be varied, challenging and rewarding - bringing people together to resolve problems for the public sector and delivering value for clients and their communities.

Rationale is looking for the right person to take up this newly created senior role in their vibrant and growing Wellington office.

**About You**

You will have a strong record of delivering programmes of strategic transformational change. Familiarity and experience with strategic financial and economic analysis and modelling will be particularly advantageous but not restrictive.

You will have a high EQ with the ability to draw people in and engage all levels of stakeholders. You’ll be able to confidently connect, inspire and work collaboratively with people, delivering reliable quality outputs on time - every time. In particular, we are looking for someone experienced in coaching and people leadership.

It is essential that you are a highly skilled critical thinker and problem solver, and understand the macro and micro perspectives, with the ability to interpret through complexities and ‘cut to the chase’ when required.

**What skills do we need?**
- 10+ years’ experience working alongside or within Central Government
- Tertiary qualification with evidence of additional learning or relevant work experience
- Central government products and comprehension of the machinery of New Zealand Government
- Understand and advise for ministerial and executive decision making
- Established central government networks
- Treasury investment management & budgeting processes
- Experience working in programmes involving integration of Te Ao Māori
- Strategy & operating model development
- Strategic financial and economic analysis
- Transformational & organisational change management
- Communication and engagement.
