Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do
As the Manager of Public Health Equity and Engagement, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and fostering relationships within the public health sector. You will lead a dynamic team to influence across different systems to address the determinants of health and support community aspirations for pae ora. This is an exciting new leadership opportunity for a newly established team with a national focus, based in Auckland.
Your main responsibilities will involve leading the development and implementation of engagement strategies that uplift community wellbeing aspirations, influencing the strategic priorities of the Public Health Agency. By building collaborative and positive relationships across various sectors, including local government, localities and other place-based initiatives, you will drive systems change and advance equity in health outcomes. Through your leadership, you will ensure the delivery of programs that align with government priorities and objectives.
Your expertise in project management and strategic planning will be essential as you guide and support your team in achieving outstanding results. By nurturing the capacity and capability of your team, you will enable them to contribute effectively to the overall work program and priorities of the Directorate.
As a role model, you will lead by example and champion the implementation of the Ministry's desired culture and values within the team. By staying informed about emerging risks and pressures, you will provide valuable insights to the Group Manager and help navigate challenges successfully.

- Relevant technical/professional qualification and/or equivalent experience
- Experience managing a team's capability and capacity to deliver on current and future work priorities
- Actively models and promotes change fitness and the ability to navigate complexity and change
- Proven experience of working to influencing across systems and on collective impact approaches
- Solid organisational skills with the ability to think ahead, use initiative, establish priorities and meet deadlines whilst preserving high levels of accuracy and confidentiality
