We are looking for a knowledgeable Māori Relationship Manager/Kaitiaki to lead the strategic direction and relationships between the University, Te Rūnanga o ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori, Māori students and their whānau to understand their intentions and strengthen tauira Māori recruitment.

In this role, the Māori Relationship Manager/Kaitiaki will assist Waipapa Taumata Rau to identify new and support existing activities that align with our values and support Māori school leaver recruitment. The Kaitiaki will work both internally and externally across schools, kura, iwi, related Community Groups, and Representative bodies to identify opportunities to develop networks and promote partnerships that enable the School Leaver Segment and Māori Cohort Plans to be achieved.

This role is fundamental in ensuring the voice of the community is heard, and the data gathering and analysis informs University strategies for building meaningful and supportive pathways for tauira Māori to access opportunities for tertiary study, provide a platform for successful transition and future academic success.

This is a **full-time** (37.5 hours per week), **permanent** position.
The remuneration is $92,100 - $113,800 per annum dependent on skills and experience.

**Qualifications**:
**He kōrero mōu | About you**

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A degree and/or postgraduate qualification in relevant discipline or equivalent experience, knowledge and training
- Experience and understanding of equity issues in New Zealand, especially with relation to Māori communities and students
- Governance and strategy development experience in a large, complex organisation
- Significance experience in a leadership role with proven experience in strategic planning and implementation within a large, complex organisation
- Significant experience of working with Māori stakeholders - mana whenua, iwi, enterprises, and community groups
- In-depth understanding of the tertiary environment especially in relation to Māori school leaver and student experience
- Proven ability in establishing and maintaining effective and productive partnerships with stakeholders for strategic outcomes
- In-depth knowledge of principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- In-depth understanding of tikanga Māori and knowledge of te reo Māori
- Full, clean NZ Drivers Licence
