**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

The Strategic Broker plays a pivotal role in supporting the implementation of the Empowered Communities approach at the local level and works closely alongside their local board, the community, and other departments of Auckland Council in their work.

We will look to you to:

- Contribute to an annual programme of work in conjunction with the local boards, focused on enabling more community-led delivery of initiatives.
- Work with Connected Communities colleagues to provide every opportunity for communities to drive their own aspirations.
- Work with local communities to build stronger connections at the street and neighbourhood level.
- Assist the local boards to understand and be more responsive to mana whenua and mataawaka aspirations in their areas.
- Be the "go to" person for residents and community organisations at the local level, providing a portal into Auckland Council, and making it easier to access resources and information.
- This role will also support the devolution of resources to the community and provide operational support to ensure the Local Board Work Programme is delivered.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

Ideally, you have a tertiary qualification combined with experience working at the community grassroots level as well as in a senior advisory capacity.

You will have drive, focus and initiative to produce pragmatic, tangible outputs within given timeframes.

Your ability to build strong and trusted relationships is exemplary. You will have demonstrated effectiveness in making relationships work, and an understanding of how to effectively collaborate in a complex place-based environment.

Highly beneficial will be proven experience in supporting community-led processes and capacity building to achieve community outcomes across diverse populations.

You will be a strong analytic and strategic thinker, with sound written and verbal communication skills.
