Te Tari o te Ihonuku Moana-nui-a-Kiwa, the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Pacific (OPVCP) plays a leading role in the implementation of the University’s strategy concerning Pacific staff and students, issues and communities. It advises the Vice Chancellor and University leadership on Pacific peoples, communities and the Pacific whilst leading and supporting relationships between the University and Pacific staff, students, communities and the Pacific organisations.

An exciting opportunity has now arisen to appoint a Student Equity Adviser - Pacific to Te Tari o te Ihonuku Moana-nui-a-Kiwa, the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Pacific.

**Job Description**:
**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

Reporting directly to the Assistant Pro Vice Chancellor - Pacific, the Student Equity Adviser - Pacific plays a leading role in Pacific learner success activities through supporting Tuākana Learning Community on behalf of the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Pacific. These University wide strategic initiatives advance the aspirations of Taumata Teitei and contribute to the success of Pacific staff and students.

Some key responsibilities include:

- ** Relationship Management** - work collaboratively with the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Pacific for the success of Indigenous & Pacific students at Waipapa Taumata Rau and form strong collegial relationships across the University and externally with Māori and Pacific student organisations.
- ** Strategy, Planning and Development -** Contribute to the development, planning and successful implementation of Pacific student success strategies and plans in alignment with Taumata Teitei.
- ** Operational Management** - Support the Kaihāpai Tauira to amplify the Tuākana Learning Community in line with Māori and Pacific aspirations and key University and government strategies. Also, work closely with the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Māori to identify shared areas such as training, leadership development for the Tuākana Learning Community.

This is a full time, 37.5 hours per week, permanent role.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

You will need to demonstrate cultural capability in working with Pacific and Māori stakeholders and proven relationship management strengths, with clear evidence of your ability to build successful partnerships and operate within a high performing team.

This role requires someone with a can-do attitude and ability to take initiative and help drive forward programmes that contribute to the Pacific student pathway at at Waipapa Taumata Rau.

Strong communication skills are essential, with verbal, written and inter-personal skills integral to success in this role. Working knowledge of Te Reo Māori and/or Pacific language is preferred.
