The Role
Here at Fisher & Paykel Appliances, we design with people in mind and the lives lived around our products. We aim to create moments of delight together in the heart of the home, sustainably enhancing the quality of people's lives, now and for future generations. This purpose is the very heart of why we exist, it's our reason for being here.
We are driven by our values of being trusted, sustainably minded, innovative, generous, and curious. As a team, we take a collaborative approach and have a working environment where all ideas are heard, evaluated, and tested against our leading goal - to be the world's most human centered appliance brand.
This is where you come in
We're now on the lookout for a Product Development Engineer to join one of our Laundry teams in Auckland. Specifically, we need thermodynamic and heat pump systems knowledge and design skills to complement an existing team of Product Design Engineers. As an integral member of multidisciplinary engineering projects, you will support the delivery of the Laundry Product and Technology roadmaps.
What we're looking for
An experienced design engineer, you thrive in a collaborative, hands-on creative environment, where you take ownership and actively manage your part and product systems through the entire process from concept generation to production. In addition, you should demonstrate an ability to successfully drive teamwork, bringing together all branches of the business to achieve objectives (eg. Electronic Hardware and Software teams and China based Product Design teams).
You'll be capable of covering many aspects of project design including:
- identifying key design factors,
- coming up with design concepts,
- generation of prototypes,
- hands-on testing,
- capturing data and performing data analysis,
- robust problem solving,
- modelling and simulation of part and system behaviours,
- Leading the development of best practice for the knowledge area.
Our engineers are curious, innovative, and practical, and always striving for outstanding results. Gathering knowledge to drive key decisions for products to meet key design requirements, and capturing it for reuse is integral. Good planning is an important aspect of your consistent record of on-time, on-budget work delivery that meets or exceeds requirements.
You'll need a degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Engineering Science with 5+ years' experience in a similar product development environment. A background in complex appliance, industrial or HVAC industries is desired but not essential.
What we offer
Our environment is designed to allow people to thrive. Our culture is one in which our engineers can constantly develop, working alongside a team of talented and skilled engineers. At Fisher & Paykel you will have opportunities for technical growth and leadership within a global organisation.
You'll be part of a team-based culture that offers benefits such as development opportunities, a challenging and supportive work environment, leading technology, work/life balance, competitive remuneration, superannuation scheme and a full on-site subsidised cafeteria and buying privileges.
Please note we can only consider applicants with the current legal right to work in NZ.
Fisher & Paykel is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, or other characteristics protected by law.
