We have an opportunity for a Workshop Logistics Assistant to join our team on a permanent basis. The primary purpose of this role is the receiving, storing, packing, and distribution of parts and materials in support of the Interislander technical operation.

This is a hands-on role and will involve working along with other staff and employees from other sites/ units/ depots as required. Maintaining the inventory control data system (AMOS), ensuring correct entry of Inward Goods, understanding receipts and packing slips, facilitate the collection of requested stock lists, Identify, Reject and follow up damaged goods. Organise Stock Transfers, and to carryout stock takes of held items when requested by the Workshop Manager or Engineering Manager.

Following quality management systems including controlling of a segregated area for rejected goods, recording of any damaged goods/materials. Following all safety, risk management, and environmental procedures for hazardous goods. Maintaining and verifying inventory records, reporting and investigating discrepancies, reconciling all documentation associated with stock movement. Assist with packing and movement of stock around the workshop and the wider Interislander operation.

In this role you will be required to drive forklifts, load and unload trucks, drive a light commercial delivery vehicle, use computers and be involved in physical activity. Health and Safety is an important part of how KiwiRail operates. You will be a safety leader and will be expected to “walk the safety talk”

The successful applicant will have:

- Experience in a Warehouse environment
- Experience in Inwards/Outwards Goods Role
- Computer literate
- Attention to detail
- Team player who is flexible and pro-active
- NZCE Level 1 or equivalent
- Minimum Full class 1 license
