The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) provides national leadership to New Zealand's distributed emergency management system. NEMA's primary focus is on the performance and capability of the emergency management system as a whole, across all hazards and all risks and the 4 Rs of risk reduction, readiness, response and recovery. Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
In this role you will lead and develop readiness and response initiatives to build and maintain capability and capacity across the emergency management sector to ensure Aotearoa New Zealand is ready to respond to its most significant disasters. You'll do this by providing expertise in the Capability and Learning and Development fields across a diverse portfolio of work.
These positions sit with the System Capability Unit which leads the identification, design and implementation of strategies that will build the capability and capacity of the emergency management system across New Zealand.

- Comfortable facilitating a collaborative work environment, with a constant eye on completing the objective and goals of the business unit

- Able to manage without authority and ensure work gets completed effectively and on time
- Anticipates complex problems and watches for tell-tale indicators that warrant intervention
- Willingness to grow Māori capability and cultural confidence
