- Be part of a system-wide future focused change to how we do government procurement in New Zealand
- Bring your strong experience in capability building and leadership development to create and deliver change through cross-agency and cross-sector capability programmes
- Join a growing team open to new ideas and ways of working
- Salary range: $132K-$160K
The Opportunity Procurement for the Future is a large system-wide programme that will position government procurement for the future. It aims to elevate the current government procurement system to meet future economic, social and environmental challenges.

Each year government procurement is a vehicle for transforming over $50 billion dollars of public money into valuable outcomes. With that spend comes a huge opportunity to achieve great outcomes for New Zealand and impact our country in a positive and meaningful way.

Achieving this vision will take a cultural shift for public sector procurement and the procurement workforce will need new knowledge, skills and mindsets as the system moves to focus on values-driven outcomes rather than a compliance-based approach.

**Tēnei tūranga - About the Role**: We have put together a model for system capability that is adaptable to meet the changing needs of procurement across the public sector. As Principal Advisor, you will support standing up this model for sustainable, systemic change across the procurement workforce. While this role will be working at NZ Government Procurement branch at MBIE, you don’t need to be a procurement professional.

Reporting to the Manager Procurement Workforce and Capability, within New Zealand Government Procurement (NZGP), you will be part of a growing team. You will have the opportunity to mentor and coach other members of the team.

Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required

**We are keen to hear from you if you have**:

- Proven experience and achievement in the areas of workforce development, capability building, leadership development, and inclusion and culture change.
- Experience leading transformative change through a community of practice and the development of capability programmes including talent and succession management, leadership development, career pathways, etc.
- Experience championing diversity or cultural capability within organisations (with knowledge of Tikanga Māori) (desirable).
- Demonstrated influencing skills, with proven ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships with a range of diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.
- Good facilitation skills in both in-person and online settings.
- The ability to be flexible and to quickly adapt to programme needs.

Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or New Zealand permanent residents and be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearances.

This is a full-time role. We are open to you working flexibly in a full-time role. Talk to us about what will work for you.
Why work for us? New Zealand Government Procurement, a branch within MBIE, helps government agencies achieve greater public value by delivering procurement excellence. We provide the government's procurement functional leadership objectives through a collaborative, centre-led approach. We help government agencies with building procurement capability, providing support, advice and expertise, and make procurement management easier through systems and frameworks that support quality decision making.

We aim to create a culture where staff are empowered to bring fresh perspectives to issues and to think outside the box. We encourage excellence and proactively support development through on-the-job learning, training courses, and development programmes.
