Te whiwhinga mahi/The Opportunity
Our work includes providing strategic and policy advice to Ministers and senior leaders to support our Treaty-based partnerships, help advance Māori aspirations for justice reform and enhance the Ministry's ability to embed whakaaro Māori across all that we do.
This is a chance to use your policy experience, machinery of government knowledge, and commitment to Māori aspirations and wellbeing to contribute to a busy work programme with a supportive team. The role is fixed term for 12 months. Secondments will be considered.
As Policy Advisors, you will be responsible for providing trusted advice and support to the General Manager and Pou Whakatere, Deputy Secretary Māori and contributing to the development of policy advice, informed by Māori perspectives and mātauranga Māori, to Ministers.

To be successful in this role, you will also have the following:
Competency in te reo rangatira me ōna tikanga is highly valued however it is not a requirement for the role(s). A tertiary degree in a relevant field is preferable, also keen to hear from those of you who have equivalent life experience.
- Competency in Te Reo Māori and tikanga Māori and a demonstrable willingness to share and learn
- The ability to articulate perspectives around te ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi - Experience engaging with iwi and Māori organisations, whānau, hapū and iwi
- Providing written reports and presentation to a high standard, including high levels of accuracy
- Strong relationship management skills

This is a chance to use your advisory experience, machinery of government knowledge, and commitment to Māori aspirations and wellbeing to contribute to a busy work programme.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $107,540 - $150,174 based on skills and experience.
