The Labour Leader's Office (LLO) supports the Labour Party Leader and Labour Party members of Parliament in their parliamentary duties. We provide a range of political services, advice, and support, including event management.

We are a dedicated, energetic, and progressive team who ensure the Labour Party Leader and Caucus are well supported. We are committed to supporting the Labour Leader and our MPs as we fulfil our role in Opposition, in the 54th Parliament.

**Mō te tūnga | About the role**:
The Events Manager is responsible for managing and supporting the events for the Leader of the Labour Party and Labour members of Parliament (MPs). We are looking for someone with proven event management experience, and excellent people skills. You'll need to be used to working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment - with the support of a great team around you.

You'll be required to identify speaking opportunities and events and manage them effectively. This includes the smooth running of the event and ensuring that the Leader/MPs are well briefed and prepared. You'll also have responsibility to provide required material about events they are attending. The Events Manager will regularly travel with the Leader/MPs, and will often be responsible for contributing to the development of digital media content relating to the events.

There are several different skills that will add to your success in this position. The core technical skills include having deep practical experience in, and understanding of, event management.

Ideally, you'll understand the political environment and have existing relationships in the field, plus the ability to build and maintain strong relationships inside and outside of Parliament. You will have experience in proactively identifying speaking opportunities and events and managing them effectively.

**Ngā haepapa | Responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement an event strategic plan
- Liaise with the Director of the Labour Leader's office regarding the budget
- Book venue/s and equipment
- Collaborate with the Labour Leader, Labour members of Parliament, and their staff on potential event opportunities
- Liaise with the communications team to promote the event
- Oversee the event/s
- Plan multiple events simultaneously
- Plan and organise functions, events and tours, collaborating with the administrative team and others ensuring the Leader or other Members are well briefed for each engagement
- Coordinate publicity and advertising of events, managing RSVPs and recording attendance in relevant databases in a timely manner

Appointments will be based on skills and experience. All employees who work for MPs are employed on an 'events based' agreement, with your employment linked to your MP (in this case, the Leader of the Opposition). This role is based in the Parliamentary Precinct for 40 hours per week.
