**Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi - About the Role**
The NZBS Media Tutor is a key teaching and supervisory role in our tutorial team delivering courses in the Bachelor of Broadcasting Communications degree programme and includes actively engaging in applied research.
The primary focus of this role is leading the development and delivery of the study of the media environment (media ecology) using radio, video, and digital platforms, but also contributing relevant industry knowledge and experience to other areas of the programme. The role also involves coordinating industry guests and part-time tutor contributions, teaching/assessing across the degree, supervising applied student research and projects, and students in industry.
**Ngā Pūkenga Me Ngā Wheako - Skills/Experience**
- A Bachelor's degree, in media communications, or a related discipline.
- Current knowledge and experience in cross-cultural media dynamics.
- Current industry/discipline knowledge.
- Certificate of Tertiary Teaching and Learning Level 5, or a willingness to complete the adult teaching qualification.
- Current knowledge and experience of the challenges faced by broadcast and digital media industries.
- A wide network of broadcasting industry and community contacts, including Māori media.
- Sound knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how it relates to media representation and storytelling.
- Sound knowledge of equity and its importance in the tertiary sector.
- Sound knowledge of the Codes of Practice for the Pastoral Care of Domestic & International Students.
- Awareness and knowledge of current and future trends in journalism content production.
