**Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi - About the Role**

We are seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Journalism professional to join our team delivering courses in the Bachelor of Broadcasting Communications degree.

This key role will primarily be responsible for the delivery of the first-year journalism course. This involves introducing students to the basics of journalism and news gathering as well as supervising students in a radio newsroom environment. The role also covers coordinating industry guests and part-time tutor contributions, teaching/assessing across the degree, lecturing in media ecology, and supervising applied ākonga projects and ākonga in industry.

Broadcast and electronic media content is now delivered to audiences on multiple platforms so, in addition to traditional broadcast platforms, there is an increasing focus on preparing ākonga for future changes in media production and media business. To that end, the role requires up-to-date knowledge and experience, and the appointee will contribute to the on-going research outputs of the school in relation to current and future media practice.

**Ngā Pūkenga Me Ngā Wheako - Skills/Experience**
- Current practical experience in daily news gathering, reporting and news production in a broadcast and/or digital news environment.
- Experience in Māori media or Kaupapa Māori journalism desirable.
- Vision, innovation, and a commitment to facilitating own and others' learning.
- Capable of supporting ākonga to achieve their learning outcomes.
- The ability to develop and implement flexible teaching and learning methods, including the use of learning technologies.
- The ability to contribute to research outputs.
- Capable of engaging respectfully and positively with a diverse range of communities, cultures, and backgrounds.
- The ability to build and maintain constructive and cooperative relationships with academic peers as well as media industry employers and policy-makers.
