**Purpose of the role**

The Capability Manager is responsible for the development, facilitation and maturity of IT practises to support the IT department becomes a true business provider and IT Service provider of choice for AA Inc. it's associated JVs and business interests. Collectively these IT practises are known as IT "Ways of Working" (WoW).

The role is a key supporting leadership role for the Head of IT Performance and Architecture helping facilitate best practise technology and optimal fit for purpose Business focused outcomes from the IT Department as a whole. The role will primarily work with the other Leads in the IT department on a daily basis. Understanding the requirements of business stakeholder around IT department output will also be a key part of the role, so working with business stakeholders will be on frequent basis.

The Capability Manager will help assess the performance of delivery and service, providing insights and analysis into issues and challenges as well as proposing proactive improvement opportunities. They will be an outstanding proponent and influencer of continuous and relentless improvement with a human touch.

**Key day-to-day responsibilities**
- Work with the Head of IT Performance and Architecture as well as the rest of stakeholders capturing satisfaction ratings, sentiment analysis, workflows & delivery metrics, KPI measurements, performing data analysis and information management across key Information Technology outputs
- Support and facilitate the development of frameworks and tool sets by using, testing and advising on approaches on around IT outputs and WoWs
- Understand business strategies, business desires and requirements and be able to translate to understandable terminology to link to IT, Metrics and Business requirements
- Help develop value management and capture frameworks to demonstrate the value of the IT department to the rest of the organisation
- Be a Subject-Matter Expert for Stakeholder questions related to the IT practices and value measurement
- Prepare reporting, data analysis and insights around IT Outputs and WoWs as well as analysis for proactive improvements

**Key skills and experience required**
- Strongly thorough analytical, design and documentation skills
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
- Ability to grasp new business strategy, business plans, business requirements and associated concepts quickly
- Excellent communicator, both written and verbal
- Excellent stakeholder management and customer relationship skills including diplomacy, negotiation and value delivery
- A demonstrated professional relationship with previous internal customers delivering outcomes that drive organisational change
- Can interface effectively with and advise board, executive and senior managers
- Prepared to challenge the status quo, and engage in rigorous and robust debate while maintaining engagement
- Strong people leadership and management skills including sourcing of appropriately skilled resources within a large IT environment
- Demonstrated experience in leading continuous improvement to enhance IT performance
- Ability to influence and lead work to get the best outcomes where direct reporting relationships do not exist.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience
- Certification in relevant Project Management methodology such as PMBOK, Prince2 or equivalent and working knowledge
- Certification in Agile and/or Lean methodology or equivalent and working knowledge
- Certification/working knowledge in other IT-related frameworks such as COBiT, ITIL and IT4IT across governance, value stream and service delivery or equivalent and working knowledge
