**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

As a Student Support Adviser, you will:

- Build relationships with current and prospective students and key UG student groups.
- Be responsible for maintaining a learning environment that supports student success through well-being, pastoral care, and learning support.
- Deliver peer-to-peer academic and non-academic initiatives by working with a team environment
- Collate and track student performance, enabling targeted interventions such as workshops, events, or one on one meeting/s.
- Proactively working with the Kaiarahi, Associate Dean (Academic) and Associate Dean (Equity) to ensure that students are supported academically

This is a **full-time **(37.5 hours pw)**, permanent** position.
The salary range for this role is between : $56,600 - $60,600 based on experience

**Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team**
The Student Development and Engagement team within the Faculty of Law plays a pivotal role in supporting and nurturing student life and experience. We collaborate very closely with one another, academic and professional colleagues within the Faculty as well as other service divisions within the wider University. We are innovative thinkers and have a partnership-based approach. A small and passionate team that strive to create the best outcomes for our students.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

To be successful in this role, you should be familiar with the student life cycle and be passionate about excellence and innovation in Student Development and Engagement. We are looking for a potential leader, with drive and a foundation of skills to make things happen and influence others.

**Important Skills and Experience| Nga Pūkenga Motuhake**
- Has the ability to develop and maintain relationships with students and their whanau, to enable retention, transition, and success in academic programmes at the University.
- Has experience working and engaging with Māori and staff, as well as leading a team of student mentors within the tertiary sector.
- Is a proactive, energetic, and confident professional, who will be skilled in communicating with diverse audiences.
- Has the ability to work independently as well as within a team environment and display an empathic style combined with planning and organisational skills.
- Has strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and sound judgment
- Holds a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or has experience working within a large multifaceted environment that provides high levels of customer service.
