The Student Outreach Advisor tima, 'au, (team) are dedicated to encapsulating a holistic model of care to provide general advice, pastoral care and individualised wellbeing support for the success of our Tauira

Reporting to the Student Support Manager, the Student Support team is integral to the success of MIT's Tauira focusing on providing advice, pastoral care and outreach support.

Every day is different but primarily the Student Outreach Advisor engages pro-actively with early intervention to at-risk tauira, and assist students to identify and confidently resolve issues affecting their social and learning experience and participate in opportunities that will optimise and enhance their engagement, persistence, success and quality of life at MIT.

**Key Responsibilities Include**:

- Championing success for our priority learners Maori, Pasifika and under 25' students.
- Prioritising and guiding students through processes such as enrolment, course changes, recognition of prior learning, withdrawals, aegrotat considerations, hardship and welfare support options, and other entitlements and responsibilities as per the Student Regulations.
- Ensuring students are provided with an individual Student Support Plan that is holistic, culturally appropriate and captured students pastoral care needs, personal goals and key actions that will support their academic learning outcomes and career aspirations.
- Partnering with MIT Service Centre's, Academic Support and Schools and Campus support services to ensure that students needs can be addressed at School level and identifying at risk students and escalate pastoral care, counselling or specialist support when required.
- Supporting students concerns and complaints in line with policy and ensuring that the appropriate immediate support and follow-up ensures their safety and ongoing welfare needs are being met through relevant service providers

We are seeking an applicant who brings a relevant degree in social work, counselling, education, or community engagement and or work experience in social service, disability, health, or education. To be successful you will need to be a team player, a natural problem solver with exceptional customer service and relationship building skills. Experience working with Maori and Pasifika communities, different age groups and diverse backgrounds is desirable along with a clean full driver's licence and competence using Microsoft.
