**Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role**

You will provide high quality technical and analytical advice to support and influence the location of future education infrastructure investment. This is an exciting new opportunity within the Ministry of Education that will play an important role in shaping the governments land investment strategy for new schools and kura. Working at the interface of planning and investment you will bring your design thinking and strategic skills to bear on complex problems related to future investment and growth. You will need to work closely with key external and internal stakeholders to understand the scale and pace of growth across the country and help position the Ministry to take advantage of opportunities/influence others that may facilitate improved future educational outcomes.

**Mōhou ake | About you**

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

- A tertiary qualification in spatial planning/resource management or similar such as urban design/urban development and extensive applicable experience, along with previous exposure to central and local government policy environment.
- An understanding of the complexity of urban development along with experience in large scale Greenfield / Brownfield projects will be important in the role. This will be allied with a learning mindset that can add new skills and bolster your existing strengths.
- You will have well-developed strategic and critical thinking skills and analytical capability with exceptional written, oral and visual communication skills alongside experience in presenting to and attending stakeholder workshops and other relevant forums on planning issues.
- A track record of success and results in a team environment in a complex delivery organisation that involved strategic and financial/operational management accountability and a high need for stakeholder engagement.
- Ideally you have worked in organisations owning large and complex property or infrastructure portfolios, desirably but not confined to the public sector.
- A full membership or qualification for membership of the New Zealand Planning Institute or other relevant organisation would be ideal.

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau.
