Principal Capability Advisor
As an experienced central government professional, the Principal Capability Advisor will assist the Deputy Chief Executive in building and strengthening key capabilities within the team and will provide advice and support in the delivery of the work programme. They will also establish and deliver regular reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive, for the Executive Leadership Team, supporting robust governance practices.
The Principal Capability Advisor will
- Support the DCE, Strategic Engagement and Partnerships in the creation of and managing of a healthy high performing team culture for the business unit.
- Provide high level specialist advice, ensuring that insights from ethnic communities are professionally incorporated in written reports and to ensure all staff have the competencies required to undertake their work in a skilled, safe and effective manner.
- Provide strategic advice to manage risks and priorities for the effective servicing of the Minister's Office.
- Provide direct operational support in the delivery of the Ministerial Servicing work programme (producing officials' correspondence that spans Ministerial, Official Information Act requests, research, written and oral Parliamentary questions, event briefings and speeches; and responds to information request from private secretaries) as it relates to the Strategic Engagement and Partnerships team.
- Identify, build, maintain and develop relationships with key stakeholders within the Ministry to support the uplift of the business unit's capability.

**What you will bring for success**:

- Proven experience in producing high quality accountability documents such as Aide Memoires, Ministerial, Official Information Act requests, written and oral Parliamentary questions, briefings and speeches.
- Proven capability in building competence or capability development plans for individuals and business units.
- Has at least an NZQA level 5 National Diploma in Adult Education and Training or its equivalent.
- Strong understanding of the political process, the role of the public service, the machinery of government, and the interaction between community engagement and policy processes.
- Knowledge of diversity and inclusion and social cohesion matters.
- 5+ years' experience as Principal Advisor within government sector.
