Auckland Council’s Data business unit has an opportunity for a Head of Data Governance to join the team. This role will report directly to the General Manager Data. This is a critical role for Auckland Council as it sets our foundational work in data governance across multiple categories to ensure we create trusted data assets for the benefit of Aucklanders.

**You could expect to work on**:

- Data Governance frameworks and policy development
- Data stewardship in different directorates
- Implementation of technical tooling
- Data quality best practices and measurement
- Data advisory for best practice for sharing our data safely

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

You will likely have experience in data platforms, data governance and analytics roles from within large and complex and potentially political organisations.

**We will be looking for specific experience with the key role requirements**:

- Implementation of data governance technical toolsets in large and complex organisations
- Leading uplift in organisational maturity in the handling and management of data
- Mitigation of key data risks and implementing effective controls
- Design and implementation of scalable processes to keep data safe
