The New Zealand Search and Rescue (NZSAR) Secretariat supports the NZSAR Council to ensure New Zealand has effective Search and Rescue services for people in distress throughout New Zealand's Search and Rescue Region to save lives. The NZSAR Secretariat is hosted by the Ministry of Transport.
The NZSAR Council provides high level strategic governance and leadership to all search and rescue agencies in New Zealand. Its functions are to provide strong strategic co-ordination for all search and rescue in New Zealand,
- Provide strategic policy advice to government.
- Be responsible for developing and maintaining a New Zealand search and rescue plan.
- Be responsible for establishing a New Zealand search and rescue vision, mission and goals.


Ngā whakamārama mō te tūnga | About the opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Senior Adviser Learning and Development to contribute to the overall effectiveness of search and rescue training in New Zealand.
As the Senior Adviser - Learning & Development you'll be responsible for providing training expertise and advice to ensure the delivery of the NZSAR Council's investment in training and development meets our planned objectives.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Leading, coordinating and delivering New Zealand's two Search and Rescue Skill Acquisition Training Programmes and providing gap analysis
- Leading and oversight of the search and rescue sectors' training planning cycle to ensure training is delivered and carried out successfully
- Managing relationships with providers to ensure the delivery of training and contracts to support the SAR Skill Acquisition Training Programme
- Engaging with external stakeholders to ensure appropriate training is provided to ensure Search and Rescue activities are carried effectively


Te wāhi ki a koe | What you'll bring
- Previous experience in learning and development or delivery of operational training
- Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to communicate with various levels throughout organisations
- Previous experience in contract monitoring roles
- Project management and coordination experience
- A background or understanding of the SAR environment and volunteer training, while not necessary, would be an advantage

Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
The salary range for the role is $100,976 - $120,000. The salary offered will be based on skills and experience.
