This is a 12 month fixed term or secondment role until March 2024

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role


Officially titled 'Business and Systems Trainer' this is essentially a relationship focused learning and instructional design role with a focus on development of high quality learning resources and opportunities.

You will be responsible for the development and delivery of training within a complex, challenging and evolving training environment.

You will work closely with the Subject Matter Experts and the Senior Adviser, Practice and Capability to ensure the competencies and capabilities for the group are well understood and represented in training; all training solutions are iteratively assessed for improvement; and the right training is available at the right time to the right audience to support business needs.


Key accountabilities include:

  • Developing and delivering good quality, timely, and effective training to support the delivery of the New Zealand's International Development Cooperation, including designing and building elearning
  • Understanding the business and proficiently representing business drivers in training solutions, seen as a trusted advisor to the business
  • In partnership with the business, ensuring ongoing enhancements and iterations to deliver business focused continuous improvement to training solutions.
  • Maintaining excellent working relationships with key stakeholders


The appointment range for this role is $98,119 to $115,434 total remuneration including employer contribution to kiwisaver - negotiable depending on experience.

You'll be able to quickly grasp, understand and translate complex data and information for business users. You'll also have strong business, project and financial acumen and be able to adapt to changing or ambiguous environments.

You will be pragmatic and able to provide valued advice and guidance to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to ensure high quality business case development and robust governance decision making across the PDG.

As an individual you will bring relevant experience and able to provide credible advice across the business to leadership level

You will have:

  • Experience developing and delivering training solutions, including designing and building elearning
  • Excellent relationship management and engagement skills and a demonstrated ability to achieve results by working collaboratively
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate complex issues and concepts clearly, succinctly, and with influence to a range of audiences
  • Ability to bring out the best performance in others, including setting expectations, providing feedback, encouraging high performance
- a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- exceptional relationship management skills

  • An understanding/experience of project delivery in developing countries or complex and difficult delivery environments
