About us

The Transnational Organised Crime (TNOC) Strategy brings together 20 government agencies to tackle TNOC by setting out a framework for a coordinated, whole-of-system approach, and aims to enhance cross-agency coordination, strengthen capability and understanding, and centralise operational priority setting, to make New Zealand ‘the hardest place in the world for organised criminal groups and networks to do business’.

The purpose of the multi-agency TNOC Fusion Centre is to add value by developing strategic insight and foresight, and influence decision making on the strategic prioritisation and coordination of TNOC activities. The role of the TNOC Fusion Centre is to coordinate and strengthen the strategic and evidence-based intelligence approach across the TNOC governance framework and agencies.

About the role

The Intelligence Analyst is a 2-year secondment with the new team based at the Fusion Hub in Wellington. It would suit an Analyst wanting the opportunity to broaden their range/experience into the multi-agency TNOC space and would like to learn and develop under the guidance of a new and unique cross-agency team.

Key Accountabilities
- Assist the development of TNOC Intelligence products
- Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills
- Use analytic expertise and critical thinking to conduct analysis of complex TNOC problems
- Develop and maintain a wide range of multi-agency professional relationships
- Undertake multi-agency collection activities selecting varied and appropriate sources and agencies.
- Champion diverse worldviews, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, identifying opportunities to reflect these in Intelligence products.

What you’ll bring

You will bring your agency knowledge and expertise to the team, to create a fusion centre that produces cross-agency strategic intelligence assessments to inform decision-makers at a systems level.
- Previous experience in an analytical role
- Knowledge and experience of best practice Intelligence processes
- Quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills and analysis
- A positive and engaged work-ethic and mindset
- The ability to manage competing demands and deliver quality products within strict timeframes

Special Requirements
- Strategic intelligence experience is preferable
- Capable of obtaining and maintaining a National Security clearance at Top-Secret level
- Access to home agency device and information
- Completed the Basic Intelligence Course (BIC) or equivalent
- An understanding of TNOC, key actors, and methodologies is desirable
- Applicants will reside in Wellington
- 2-year availability

This role is set at Individual Contributor level, this means your key purpose is “to deliver or enable others to deliver Our Business”.
