**Senior Safety Specialist**:

Airways New Zealand provides mission critical air traffic management services across 30 million square kilometres - one of the largest areas of airspace in the world. Aviation is evolving rapidly, and we continue to implement new technology for domestic and international customers. Within New Zealand, we operate aerodrome control services or flight information services at 19 locations throughout the country. The Technology Group is 200+ highly skilled professionals who design, deploy and maintain these mission critical systems.

**About the role**:
This critical senior management role is intended to provide professional safety best practice advice, guidance, and support to other peer level business unit managers within the Airways Technology Group. The role will work in close partnership with The Safety and Assurance business unit and the Airways Safety Management System (SMS) to proactively identify opportunities to improve safety outcomes across the Technology Group and deliver practical, actionable advice on resolution of key issues.

This would include conducting analysis and actively leading the development and implementation of best practice systems, tools, documentation, and communication materials, and drive opportunities for continuous improvement within the Technology Group.

**Your experience will include**:

- 10 years + in a business environment with strong cross-functional safety management experience.
- Extensive practical experience in safety management systems, investigations, preparing reports, developing guidelines, framework, and strategic communications around safety best practice
- Be self-motivated, able to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, whilst not compromising quality.
- Using your great people skills to energise and engage busy professionals to bring about continuous improvement to our safety outcomes.
- Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to problem-solve
- Proficient experience with Microsoft office suite.
