With ACC, you’ll be supporting people in Aotearoa to stay safe by minimising the incidence and impact of injury, as well as helping them recover from injury if an accident does happen. In this role, you will provide consistent, helpful, accurate and timely clinical advice on complex claims to assist recovery team members with their management of claims and support of clients.
**Additionally, you will**:
- Work in a virtual team of other medical advisors and at times work together in a multi-disciplinary team to give actionable advice. Advice may be written or via an internal phone service.
- Have plenty of opportunities to get involved in various other work undertaken by Clinical Services at ACC including operational process improvement work.
**Experience and Qualifications**
- Vocationally registered as an Ear Nose and Throat surgeon
- Current annual practicing certificate, evidence of indemnity insurance and a comprehensive and up to date understanding of relevant clinical knowledge and conditions.
- Experience dealing with clients/patients in a health service-based environment.
- Proven ability to effectively manage varied workloads to meet service levels.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative, responsive and continuous improvement environment.
- Ability to think logically and have a key eye for detail.
- Strong communication, collaboration, relationship management and coaching skills including the ability to explain conditions, treatment options and ACC decision rationale to others in an easy-to-understand manner, and work alongside others in a multidisciplinary team environment. This would include in both written and verbal, including Teams-based communication
- Proven ability to interpret and critically evaluate appropriate information to determine appropriate advice.
- Demonstrates external clinical currency through active clinical practice outside of ACC; and/or Academia (research/teaching), health consultancy, medical leadership/management, health policy or other professional work as relevant to ACC.

- Strong communication skills including the ability to explain conditions, treatment options and rationale to others in an easy-to-understand manner (written, verbal and telephone-based communication).
- Vocationally registered and maintains a current annual practising certificate in New Zealand in a relevant discipline such as, General Practice or Urgent Care or Occupational Medicine.
