We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Procurement Specialist to join our innovative and progressive social services procurement team.

Mō te tūnga | About the role
Māori, Partnerships and Communities (MPC) is responsible for leading our approach for engaging with partners and communities to co-design new and innovative partnerships and services with Iwi, Māori organisations, and community partners. MPC ensures the voices of tamariki, rangatahi and whānau are used to influence strategy, policy, practice, and operations across the organisation, so that their needs and aspirations are met.
MPC undertake several important functions including procuring and commissioning needed services, understanding capacity, and building the necessary capabilities to ensure our partners can deliver the required service outputs.
The purpose of this role is to lead the design and implementation of social service procurement activities and provide best practice procurement and commissioning advice with a focus on delivering sustainable social outcomes for tamariki, whānau and communities. Procurement must be carried out in accordance with our obligations under Section 7AA of the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989 as well as the Government Procurement Rules and Principles.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

**Key requirements of the role include**:  
- To be successful in this role you must have previous experience in a procurement role and a reputation for building and maintaining great relationships.
- Offering best practice procurement and commissioning advice to senior leaders
- Ensuring our partnerships; engagements and practice align to our responsibilities under s7AA of the Oranga Tamariki Act in regard to Mana Tamaiti, Whanaungatanga and Whakapapa.
- Proven experience in procurement, preferably gained in social service procurement or associated functions (commissioning, relationship management, project management, contract management etc.)
- Experience in complex, dynamic environments managing high levels of ambiguity and risk and negotiation.
- Relevant tertiary qualification is desirable.
- Experience leading collaborative sourcing projects within a complex, multistakeholder operating environment.
- Experience in mentoring and coaching others is a bonus.
- Ability to be creative and innovative in how we use procurement approaches to support the delivery of Oranga Tamariki priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated by credibility, personal or collaborative influence, managing expectations and targeted persuasion.
