- **Flexible and supportive work environment**

**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

Our Auckland Council Procurement team has a permanent full-time opportunity in the Capital/Operations Procurement team for a Procurement Specialist to join the team

As a Specialist, you will work with the procurement team to develop and execute procurement category strategies and plans, deliver supplier relationship and contract management outcomes and assist in delivering the best "value for money" outcomes for Auckland Council.

This role will assist with identifying opportunities from all aspects of the procurement lifecycle in spend categories that you are assigned from time to time and deliver against the "whole of life" costs of the goods or services being procured. You will also look for sustainable and social procurement outcomes that can be achieved from the council's procurement spend. The role will focus on the customer and co-locate with them when necessary to complete strategic procurement activity, including planning, sourcing, negotiations and supporting contract and supplier relationship management.

This is a great opportunity to work in a large and complex organisation, and be exposed to various projects and to high-profile work. This role would progress into a Strategic Procurement Specialist & then as a Procurement Category Manager position and we encourage development and growth towards this.

You can expect to work on:

- Delivering a whole-of-life cost analysis approach for strategic operations procurement initiatives and some capital (infrastructure) procurement works.
- Supplier relationship management, including facilitating workshops.
- Spend analytics and strategic response.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

To succeed in this role, you will have procurement experience from within large and complex organisations. You will need strong foundational sourcing knowledge and strategic thinking to set you up for success.

We will also be looking for:

- Outstanding relationship management skills to influence significant stakeholders including supplier relationship management
- Evidence of strong foundational sourcing knowledge, as this is key for the role
- Confidence in leading or running workshops to internal and external stakeholders
- Initiative, drive and ability to independently manage the allocated procurement categories/initiatives
- Experience in procurement for Government or related organisations would be advantageous, but not compulsory.
