Ko wai mātou - About Us
At Manatū Hauora we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters. As we move away from the response to the Covid pandemic now is the time to look to the future, to ensure New Zealanders are cared for by a health system that is innovative, future focussed and world leading.
The Public Health Agency (PHA) is a new and distinctly, branded business unit being established within the Ministry. It will lead population and public health policy, strategy, regulatory, intelligence, surveillance and monitoring functions across the system.
Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do
Bring your deep understanding and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi as you join the Senior Leadership Team within the Public Health Agency. Drive the strategic direction and leadership in the development and implementation of the Public Health Agency's strategic intent (Pou Whirinaki). Your strong relationship management and influencing skills will enable you to engage with senior leaders in Manatū Hauora, Te Aka Whai Ora and Te Whatu Ora and stakeholders across public health. You will actively support iwi and Māori communities to achieve their wellbeing aspirations and the special relationship under Te Tiriti o Waitangi. You will lead the Hauora Māori Tūmatanui team, mātauranga Māori and tikanga across Te Pou Hauora Tūmatanui working closely with the Māori Health Directorate. You will strive to deliver our effective contribution to equity of health outcomes, the health and wellbeing of individuals, whānau and population groups and the vision of Pae Ora.
