**Mō te Tūranga | About the Role**

The Financial and Regulatory Reporting Team keep BNZ safe by providing accurate and timely reporting and insights, while driving and promoting an effective control environment and actively supporting change across the enterprise with accounting and reporting advice.

This role reports to the Financial Controller, overseeing and supporting the timely production of BNZ financial and regulatory reporting required by NZ legislation, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand's conditions of registration and National Australia Bank Group.

**What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?**
- Manage the production of external Financial Reporting including the Disclosure Statement, funding documents, Regulatory Reporting, and parent entity reporting.
- Promote the importance of an effective financial control and reconciliation environment, ensuring appropriate processes and controls are in place.
- Interpret and assess the impact of existing and new accounting and reporting requirements, providing clear advice and guidance, managing the impact of regulatory, as well as internal change on external Financial and Regulatory Reporting.
- Maintain strong relationships that foster open and constructive communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead a high performing team, enabling and supporting their growth and continuous improvement, and maintaining high engagement.

This is newly created role and therefore the successful applicant will have an opportunity to shape and form the role. By nature, the role and environment are very detail oriented, but also continuously changing. Because your team are established and experts at what they do, you'll be faced with situations where you have to think outside the box and use your technical knowledge and logic to find innovative and new ways of dealing with things.

This role also offers you the opportunity to engage with a broad range of stakeholders, not only across the bank, but also with external organisations, becoming a trusted senior member of the wider Finance Team.

**What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role?**

This is a crucial role within our team and requires not only the technical knowledge and capability, but also someone that demonstrates people skills. You'll bring an extensive accounting background and experience within financial services, but also show strong stakeholder management skills and where you have previously led and developed successful direct and indirect teams. We are looking for:

- A minimum of 10 years accounting experience, giving your strong technical knowledge of accounting and reporting standards and principles.
- We are highly regulated and therefore a broad knowledge, experience and understanding of financial services operations/industry is essential to this role.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills**, **holding you in good stead to build key relationships across BNZ and external organisations.
- Exceptional communication skills with demonstrated success in presenting to and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Strong leadership experience, demonstrating where you have lead and developed successful direct and indirect teams.
- Experience of RBNZ & APRA regulatory reporting requirements.
