**Tēnei tūranga - About the Role**:
Occupational Regulation is a cross-sector team responsible for investigating complaints about several different occupational licensing and registration schemes, currently including Electrical Workers, Licensed Building Practitioners, Immigration Advisers, Motor Vehicle Traders, Auctioneers and Pool Inspectors. Over time other licensing/registration schemes may come into or out of the work of the Occupational Regulation team.

As an Investigator reporting to the Manager Investigations, you will be working in a fast-paced and diverse team environment. Your judgement and investigative and analytical skills will be key in getting to the bottom of complaints about people or companies operating in the sectors regulated by Occupational Regulation. The team investigates complaints against licensed practitioners to determine whether a disciplinary offence has been committed. It also investigates complaints about unlicensed matters, and pursues prosecutions where criminal offences have occurred.

Occupational Regulation works to achieve tangible outcomes, so you will need to be passionate about protecting the New Zealand public by achieving appropriate regulatory and/or legal outcomes. You should also be committed to continuous improvement, and contributing to building a strong, collaborative team and team processes.

**Skills and Experience Required**
- An understanding of the occupational regulation enforcement environment
- A curious and questioning approach, with a strong eye for detail
- Knowledge of complaint processes and investigative techniques
- A proven ability to write legal reports and to interpret legislation
- The ability to assess large volumes of information and make robust recommendations
- Knowledge of tribunals/or regulatory boards and the Court process
- Excellent time management skills, ability to perform under pressure, set priorities and meet deadlines under changing conditions
- Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
