Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand, leads the day-to-day running of our health system across New Zealand, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels. **Mō te tūnga - The role**

Only 60 minutes and an easy commute from Christchurch, Ashburton Hospital services the Mid-Canterbury Region, which is home to just over 34,000 people, from the Rakaia River to the Rangitata River. You will be part of a team of Rural Hospital Medical Specialists based at Ashburton Hospital. In this role, you will be liaising with Christchurch, Burwood and Timaru Hospitals and providing support to general practice teams within the Ashburton District.

You don't have to be based in Ashburton, but if you choose to, Ashburton is a great base for exploring Canterbury with Mt Hutt ski field on 30 minutes away and the foothills for amazing hiking and biking. Lake Hood provides the perfect venue for boating, kayaking and paddle boarding.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako - Skills and experience**

We are seeking a Rural Hospital Medical Specialist or someone who has comparable experience to join us in Ashburton on a 12-month fixed-term (full-time role). In this role, you will be overseeing the Acute Assessment Unit and managing your teams patients on the Wards. Support of our RMOs is integral to this role. You will be involved in our RMO training curriculum using our state-of-the-art Simulation Suite, leading training sessions and supervising.
