**He aha tāu e mahi ai? - What will you be doing?**

We are a small BCA Building Control Team of four that covers a large District in the heart of the King Country and the historical home of Kingitanga, where you will find some of the finest farming country in New Zealand. We value our people, our heritage, our land and our buildings. We may be a small team in numbers but we are large on achievements and recently won the BOINZ Award for Innovator of the Year

This role is focused on keeping our Council and community safe and healthy by using our expert technical knowledge and skills to assess all building developments in the District and ensure compliance with the New Zealand Building Code and associated legislation.

This is a busy and rewarding role that has much diversity and variety and is a great opportunity for someone to progress their career and gain multi-faceted experience in all aspects of building control in what is a very niche industry. You’ll be covering all things from processing building consents, inspecting buildings, be involved in quality work, auditing and monitoring.

This is an amazing opportunity for a qualified and experienced Building Control Officer who is ready to step up and take on a senior role. You must have a Regulation 18 qualification, preferably a National Diploma in Building Control Surveying and current technical competency at least Res 2 and Com 2 levels.

As well as being a self-starter who enjoys a challenge and working as part of a team in a high performing culture, you will have:

- knowledge and proven experience working with relevant legislation including the Building Act 2004 and associated NZ Building Regulations and Fencing of Swimming Pool Acts 1987
- strong leadership with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels in a tactful manner, influence and manage difficult situations
- a positive can-do attitude
- a full driver’s license
