**About the role**

Hamilton City Police is looking for someone to fill the Youth & Whānau Worker position based at the Hamilton Police Station. You will join the MPES (Māori, Pacific & Ethnic Services) group that consists of Sworn and Nonsworn staff working with Te Pae Oranga, Youth at Risk and their families in the Waikato area.

You will be in a position of trust and confidence with daily contact with local stakeholders, schools, youth clients, and community groups. The Youth Worker will work closely with families identifying any risks and issues affecting that young person's development and is expected to make the appropriate referrals or course of action.

This role includes planning and supervising activities and programs for Youth, keeping, maintaining accurate notes and records daily as well as the required administrative roles within the Te Pae Oranga space.

**Key accountabilities**:

- Identify problems, generate solutions, and make decisions
- Able to work effectively with Whanau and other stakeholders
- Keeping and maintaining accurate records
- Be self-motivated and work productively with mínimal supervision
- Ability to identify risk and make sound decisions leading to positive outcomes and able to supervise and lead Youth activities and programs
- Have a good sense of cultural awareness, inclusion and diversity
- Carry out required administrative tasks relevant to Te Pae Oranga and its provider

- Recent experience working with Youth
- The ability to effectively manage your own workload and being accountable for your performance
- Clear and committed state of mind clear about our outcomes and what we are wanting to achieve

**Special Requirement**:

- Full NZ Driver’s License
- Able to clear Police vetting

We will ask you questions based on “How we will deliver Our Business - Core Competencies” and the appropriate role level, i.e. Individual Contributor.
