**Ngā Ratonga | Our services**

We help youth to navigate the challenges they face in society (courts, police, and personal trauma) and connect them with their communities. The main goal of this service is to create a therapeutic environment in the hope of reducing the risk of youth reoffending while also encouraging them to learn, grow and live as independently as possible with Aiga/Whānau.

**He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role**

Our youth support workers coach, mentor, and teach our Rangatahi/Youth essential life skills within this residential service.

Within the role, you will work closely with the clinical team to ensure Rangatahi are kept safe and are well supported. You will be walking alongside them as they learn to live independently, learn new skills, connect with their community, and set and achieve goals.

To be successful in this position you will need a patient, calm approach and be comfortable handling challenging situations and behaviors. You will be resilient, have a recovery focus, and be experienced in working with young people and working in a residential service setting. You will also need to be comfortable with considerable administrative and data-based tasks.

**He kōrero mōu | About You**

We're looking for people who would like to give back to their community and are opened minded towards our / youth without judging them for their previous behaviour.

Cultural responsiveness and the ability to easily build relationships with Pacific and Maori youth from vulnerable backgrounds, while maintaining professional boundaries, are key skills we are looking for.

This role could suit experienced youth workers as well as students from a related field (e.g., social work, psychology, youth development) who are looking to develop within this industry.
