- About the Role

We are
looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Allied Health Assistant to join our
Occupational Therapy team
Allied Health are a diverse group of clinicians who provide a wide
range of preventative, diagnostic and therapeutic treatments as well as
rehabilitation and enablement care across a patient - s whole life course.
Some of the teams in this group are dietitians, occupational therapists,
physiotherapists, speech language therapists, and social workers.
Allied Health are working on ways to enhance tangata whaiora and
whanau (person and family care) service delivery to help with the journey
through our health system and are looking at growing their assistant/Kaiāwhina
team working with them in their team.
This role is to provide patient support on wards at Christchurch
Hospital working alongside Occupational Therapists and other Allied Health
Professionals. There will also be some working in the community to support our
Home Visit team.

**You will be responsible for**:

- Completing tasks prescribed and supervised by our registered therapists; Examples include assisting clients with rehabilitation exercises and practice of daily living tasks;
- Dropping off and setting up therapy equipment in the community;
- Administration duties as required, including record keeping and updating patient files where appropriate.Working

under the supervision of our Registered Occupational Therapists, this is an exciting

Training will be provided on the
job and you will need to be willing to work towards an appropriate Careerforce
Level 3 qualification once you are settled into our team.
- Excellent

communication skills with the ability to engage with a diverse group of
people from varying backgrounds;
- The
ability to take direction and carry out tasks autonomously;
- An
acute awareness and respect for the importance of patient confidentiality;
- The
ability to be flexible and adapt to a fast-paced environment in a time of
change;
- A
background in health and inpatient work is preferred but not essential;
- A full
NZ driver - s license is essential and be able to drive a manual car;
- Literacy
