**The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi**

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Campus Life Communications & Marketing Team and contribute to supporting an engaging and inclusive campus experience for students at the University of Auckland.

The role is tasked with the planning, development and implementation of innovative marketing and communications strategies, with the aim of retaining students, removing personal barriers to academic success, and helping students to maximise the non-classroom dimensions of the University experience. **The position will be supporting the Sport & Recreation portfolio.**

There is considerable evidence that physical activity provides a wide range of benefits including to mental health and academic achievement. Barriers to participation are removed and social engagement increased when sport and recreation is provided on campus. In addition to supporting the wide range of sport opportunities - high performance Olympic athletes, Tertiary, Interfaculty, and social sports and recreation events - this role will also contribute to the opening and operations of the University’s brand-new, state of the art Recreation and Wellness Centre due to open in July 2024.

**About you | He kōrero mōu**

Some important skills, experience and capabilities include:

- A relevant qualification such as Communications, Marketing, Business or Events management diploma or other degree.
- Experience in the development and implementation of marketing plans and experience with a wide range of media including social media, digital, web and print.
- Understanding of student services values.
- High level of initiative and ability to work unsupervised.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while handling multiple tasks.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Problem solving and decision making.

**About the team | Mō tō mātou rōpū**

Campus Life operates a range of wellbeing services such as Student Accommodation, Counselling and Health Services and Sport and Recreation, which are aimed at removing personal barriers to academic success. It also operates engagement services such as support for student organisations, social and sporting events, volunteering and leadership support aimed at helping students to develop a sense of belonging, build friendships and engage in co-curricular activities that complement their academic development.
