This is a great opportunity for an experienced Advisor to step up to an exciting opportunity and bring your current sector experience to help complete this team of key specialist roles in Victim Services. We are looking for an advisor who is proactive and adaptable, and has the necessary depth of relevant specialist knowledge, skills and experience. You can bring your savvy and adaptable skills to working in a regulatory environment. This will make a major contribution and difference to how we engage with victims of workplace incidents and their whānau-pani/next of kin to assist them to participate through our regulatory and justice system processes. You will be advising and supporting our investigators, and leading engagement with external services, building networks for accessing relevant community support and social service agencies.
About the role
The Victim Services Team is a specialist function within our Operations Group that is on an exciting journey, growing and embedding our capacity across the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced advisor with the relevant depth sector experience and stakeholder relationships to help move this team of key specialist advisors to the next level. You will help us to expand our capabilities, help shape and refine the way we work at WorkSafe, advise and support inspectors, and advise on engagement with victims and whānau engagement to support their navigation through regulatory and justice processes. You will also inform and support how we continue to integrate a trauma informed lens in how we work with victims for all WorkSafe.
This role will give you the unique opportunity to be the specialist advisor and conduit, influencing expectation management of engagement with the victims and whānau pani/next of kin of workplace incidents in situations where fatal or serious workplace injury have occurred. You will support improved regulatory outcomes by being the conduit in the organisation for providing direct advice to operational areas on the victim aspects of an investigation, and in managing the organisations referrals for support to external service, community support or social services agencies. Victims' information, communication, wellbeing and support needs, that enable them to participate and effectively engage with us during regulatory processes will be central to your approach.
**Note**: Investigators lead and maintain the direct investigation aspects required with victims and whānau pani/next of kin. Advisory walk alongside in a specialist advisory role. This is not a support worker/counsellor/or liaison case role.
**In this role, you will**:
- Provide advice and oversight of coordination of the end-to-end processes for all wider engagement and relationship management with victims and whānau pani/ next of kin around their information and communication, wellbeing and support needs when navigating regulatory and justice processes when WorkSafe is involved, enabling inspectors to focus on their core investigation engagement with victims during an investigation, for WorkSafe's Operations Group.
- Provide specialist advice on all aspect of WorkSafe's obligations and commitment under Victim Rights Act and Code. How we work with victims, immediate family and whānau is an important part of our undertaking our regulatory role.
- Work across operational and corporate teams so that all relevant areas of WorkSafe are consulted on regarding victim related matters and supporting integrating a victim focused lens across the organisation.
- Management of information about the advisors, referral and support activities and victim focused information related to this business function.
There are 4 geographical investigation areas nationally, and each Advisor works alongside all inspectorate teams in that area, as well as working collaboratively to support the victim advice function across all of operations and wider WorkSafe nationally.
**To be successful, you will bring**:
- A minimum of three years' recent experience working as an Advisor in a relevant sector role, demonstrating an understanding of how to engage with and assist people affected by trauma (due to a serious injury/fatality from a workplace accident) navigate processes, an aptitude to recognise support needs and working with stakeholders, maintaining effective relationships with existing social service and community support agencies.
