Te Manatū Waka, Ministry of Transport, is the system leader for the transport sector whether it's on land, at sea, in the air, or connecting Aotearoa to the world. We are the Government's principal adviser on transport policy, regulation and investment and play a crucial role in ensuring the transport system is working to improve the prosperity for New Zealanders.
Our key responsibilities include providing policy advice to Government including developing investment and regulatory settings, legislative advice and Crown agency governance, accountability and performance.

You'll be part of a Ministry leading outcomes that touch the daily lives of almost every New Zealander in some way. Transport has an essential role from enabling people to get to their destinations more efficiently, environmental/emission decisions, the affordability of transport, to road safety and more.

As an Adviser in the Communications and Engagement team, you'll be at the forefront of the Government's transport priorities working across a variety of interesting and fast-moving pieces of work. Key responsibilities include,
- Contributing to the development of communications strategies and plans
- Writing and editing content for internal and external communications channels, including digital
- Supporting the development of general communications material, including material for the Ministers' offices
- Working with the team on proactive media activity and responses
- Assisting with planning and delivering internal and external events.

This is a new role, established recently when Te Manatū Waka implemented a new structure and operating model to position it to support the Government to deliver its priorities.

- Relevant experience from a similar role
- Experience developing digital content and use of social media channels
- Proven writing and editing experience and excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work autonomously and meet tight deadlines
- A keen interest in continuous learning and development

Experience from within the public and/or transport sector is not essential although will be considered as advantageous.

Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
The base salary budget for this position is $79,078 - $100,420 per annum. The salary offered will be based on your skills and experience.
