**Tēnei tūranga - About the Role**:
Be part of shaping INZ’s future while coordinating high impact activities such as Immigrations part in all-of-government international responses, Royal Commissions, and major events hosted in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The Operations, Tasking and Improvement branch (OTI) ensures INZs key operational activities are delivered and big rocks are taken care of. The Business Operations Team within OTI ensures specific operational activities are governed, tasked and overseen in accordance with best practice methodologies. This includes an amount of liaison within the Ministry and externally with all of government. This team solves some of our most complex issues within a 3-6 month horizon, often starting in situations of significant ambiguity requiring an amount of fact-finding, problem definition and scoping.

We are currently seeking a Senior Advisor to join the System Action and Tasking team within the OTI branch. The Senior Advisor supports the tasking of activity across the business to ensure tactical and planned operational activity is effectively tasked and completed. The position works closely with the Planning team. Although separate teams the overall branch looks to operate flexibly based on need leveraging capability and capacity across the branch to invest resource where it is needed most, whilst maintain capacity for unplanned events and incidents.

This new role is entering the business at an exciting time of change and growth, and will bring with them:

- Immigration experience and a detailed understanding of the Immigration system and of Immigration New Zealand processes, ideally with knowledge of the Refugee and Migrant system, Risk and Verification system, or Visa processing system.
- The ability to effectively direct and coordinate effort in a timely way sometimes with incomplete information.
- Proven ability to manage internal and external relationships and use negotiation and influence to deliver outcomes.
- An understanding of project management and change management techniques.
- Strong written communication skills and an early adopter of new information technologies in order to effectively work in a virtual team
