At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

**Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role**

The Office of the Deputy Secretary, Te Puna Rangatōpū provides high-quality strategic and operational advice to the Deputy Secretary, enabling the successful operation of the group, and the provision of effective and aligned corporate services to the organisation.

Reporting to the Director of the Office, the Senior Advisor will work as part of a team providing high quality and aligned advice to the Deputy Secretary, leveraging strong and effective relationships across the group. You will be energised and challenged by a role that is varied and busy, working in a friendly and supportive team. You will enjoy building and maintaining relationships and looking for ways to connect and align diverse pieces of work.

You will operate effectively as part of the Office team to assess information and provide insights across work and will actively look for connections across the work of the team. You'll enjoy connecting with a range of stakeholders, building strong and effective relationships to inform and support your work.

The Senior Advisor will operate with a high degree of judgement and understanding of complexity to ensure advice and all pieces of work are delivered to a high standard.

The Senior Advisor will:

- Work proactively across Te Puna Rangatopu and develop networks at all levels to support the successful completion of the role.
- Be responsible for providing advice and information to the Hautū and Director ODS on the range of priorities, services and issues that the group is responsible for.
- Analyse information, make connections and use superb judgement to assess the best course of action so the Deputy Secretary is well supported

You will bring the experience, skills and ability to:

- Review information and provide value-add advice to the Deputy Secretary
- Maintain a strategic view and detailed knowledge of activities across the Te Puna Rangatopu
- Act as a key advisor to the Hautū | Deputy Secretary and the Director of the Office
- Work as part of the Office to provide excellent service to the Deputy Secretary, and be a supportive and enabling team member
- Develop and maintain proactive working relationships at all levels across the Group to inform and support your advice and the effective operation of Te Puna Rangatopu
