He angitūtanga | About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for you to become part of strong, tightly-knit and hardworking team. You will contribute towards growing conservation in the Mahaanui District alongside our Treaty partners and the community.
**In this role you will**:
- Write and coordinate ministerial briefings and Official Information Act responses
- Provide local on-the-ground context for statutory land management functions
- Create and maintain positive working relationships with district Biodiversity and Recreation/Historic Rangers to identify opportunities to achieve more conservation through greater involvement and partnership with iwi, business, and the wider community
- Support and work directly with our treaty partners, stakeholders, and community groups working in the district
- Contribute to and participate in wider district and community team operations as required, eg event planning and facilitation, creation of social media content, contract development, public liaison and biodiversity and recreation/historic field work
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
If you have the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in planning, resource management or environmental management
- Experience with RMA and/or statutory processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to digest large volumes of complex information and make decisions and recommendations
- Excellent relationship building skills and preference to work as part of a team
- High level of organisation skills with the ability to prioritise and work autonomously
- Experience working with computer-based systems and Microsoft Office products
- Be passionate about working with whānau, hapū and iwi and have respect for te ao Māori me ngā tikanga
- Full New Zealand drivers licence
**Desirable**:
- Experience with working with mana whenua
- Understanding of conservation management techniques

The salary range for this position is $66,535 to $83,906 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory - this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
