Tēnei tūranga - About the Role: We are seeking an outstanding commercial specialist to work on a wide range of significant projects for the New Zealand Government.
We’re particularly keen to recruit a specialist in the ICT and/or Social Investment sectors.
The NZGP Advisory Services group is comprised of highly skilled commercial specialists responsible for providing quality advice and support to government agencies on their significant commercial projects and work programmes.
It sometimes operates on a user pays, cost recovery basis, but also provides free advice and assistance as System Lead across government procurement.
The successful candidate will assist government agencies to plan and structure commercial projects and work programmes whilst meaningfully engaging with stakeholders.
You will inject pace and commercial resources into projects of high priority and negotiate better deals to achieve higher quality commercial results.
Additionally, you will ensure compliance with the Government Procurement Rules and support and develop in-house commercial capability.

Demonstrable experience contributing to high-profile and/or high-value commercial projects, implementing best practice and innovation.
Ability and drive to deliver successful outcomes in demanding, fast-paced environments.
A principled, yet pragmatic and solutions-focused, approach to commercial issues.
A strong client service ethic and good relationship management skills.
Ability to work on and effectively balance multiple projects simultaneously.
In-depth understanding of procurement principles and processes in area of specialism and understanding of te ao Māori would be an advantage.
A self-starter, taking responsibility for own work and quickly getting up to speed.
A team player who willingly and proactively assists others, including coaching and mentoring of more junior team members and growing commercial capability across government.
Relevant qualification or membership in area of specialism or related business discipline – for example, MCIPS is desirable.
