We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Advisor, Procurement and Contracts to join the newly established Finance and Assurance team that was created to bring in-house a currently outsourced set of financial services.

He Pou a Rangi Climate Change Commission is an independent Crown entity that drives climate action in Aotearoa New Zealand. We provide independent, impartial advice to the Government on both mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change, and we monitor and review the Government's progress towards its emissions reduction and adaptation goals.
Since establishing in December 2019, we have released advice on the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme, agricultural emissions pricing, the foundational Inaia tonu nei: a low emissions future, which included advice on the country's first three emissions budgets and the first emissions reduction plan.

Te Tūranga | The role
The Procurement Specialist provides commercial leadership and guidance across the Commission to uplift the commercial maturity of the organisation including by recommending procurement models.

Ngā herenga | The role will involve
- Leading the negotiation of significant and key contracts in conjunction with the General Counsel.
- Supporting the development and enhancement of commercial acumen and procurement capability across the Commission
- Ensuring the Commission complies with DFA's and working with the Government Procurement function (NZGP) to ensure the Commission is compliant and meets NZGP policy and rules.
- Developing and maintaining professional, effective working relationships with strategic and key suppliers/vendors to achieve outcomes for the Commission.

He kōrero mōu | About you
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent level of relevant work experience
- MCIPS qualification or equivalent experience and knowledge of procurement concepts, methodologies, and practices
- An experienced practitioner or leader in their field, across government, private or non
- government sectors nationally and/or internationally.
- Understanding of the government environment (desired but not essential)
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders, including understanding different stakeholder's motivations and the ability to influence and persuade.
- Demonstrated high levels of integrity.
- An understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and Te Ao Māori.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including informing others.
- Highly effective planning and organisational skills, including time management and prioritising work in a complex work environment.
