Te Kāhui also engages with whānau, hapū, iwi and Māori and with key stakeholders to support those who seek to progress developments and realise their aspirations with housing and urban development.
The Strategic Advisor will support the Deputy Chief Executive, Māori Crown Relations with the development of our system level strategy to strengthen HUD's strategic framework.
This is a strategic thought leadership role, providing system level advice through MAIHI and MAIHI Ka Ora to help HUD to deliver on the Governments priorities.
Key responsibilities include: Providing advice, insights and thought leadership to the Deputy Chief Executive and across the wider public sector on issues of strategic importance to achieve the right outcomes for the organisation, the system, and the Government Leading, contributing to, and supporting the implementation and operational delivery of strategic plans, programmes, projects and initiatives Coordinating work, and providing quality assurance for communications on behalf of the Deputy Chief Executive, including for formal responses to parliamentary questions, official information requests, and communications to Ministers.
Supporting the Deputy Chief Executive with leading work to build and maintain relationships with iwi and key Māori organisations on housing matters and taking a lead role where there is greater risk or opportunity for delivering Māori housing outcome.

To be successful in this role, you will have: Excellent business and commercial acumen, with demonstrable experience contributing to the development of strategic plans and driving organisational change Significant experience working at a system level and the ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that influence system-level decision making and change.
Knowledge of the housing and urban development system, including key legislative and policy levers.
Experience building and leading inclusive and diverse teams, and creating a safe, positive, and thriving workplace environment A proven track record of working effectively with and maintaining the trust of colleagues, other senior officials and Ministers where appropriate, along with a reputation for political awareness, sound knowledge of government processes, and proven ability to achieve the right results in a political environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with proven experience building and leveraging strategic relationships and partnerships across the public and private sectors to achieve shared outcomes.
